The Grand Tasting (OakStop, 2323 Broadway, campus-The Hive Oakland) June 18, 2022 (6-10 p.m.) Sample the food, wine and cocktails of the African Diaspora at The Black Food & Wine Experience's Grand Tasting in the heart of Oakland. Celebrate Black culture and excellence with your fellow foodies while tasting from celebrated and rising chefs and restaurants, winemakers and spirit purveyors at the Hive. The event will feature limited availability wines, barrel samples and culinary concepts with incomparable flavor not to mention live entertainment and activations. Post Grand Tasting VIP party to follow: Location TBD (10 p.m.-12 a.m.)
Attire: Dress to Impress. Dresses, Suits & Sneaker, Come to slay with all-black, African attire or vibrant bold colors. Comfortable footwear is strongly encouraged.
Food & Beverage Industry Summit (OakStop, 2323 Broadway, campus-The Hive Oakland) June 16, 2022 (5-8 p.m.) Join The Black Food & Wine Experience® for its first industry summit aimed at supporting BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and people of color) Food & Beverage entrepreneurs to create the next generation of hospitality leaders through professional development. This industry educational event will feature keynote presentations and panel discussions to address topics ranging from building customer service, access to funding, and opportunities for recruitment. This year's theme is the resurrection of Black Wall Street post-Covid. Who comes back? What are available resources and opportunities? Who has access? How do we build moving forward? The program will include panel discussions by Erin Harris of Lobos tequila and Pronghorn , Julia Collins founder of Planetfwd, Derreck Johnson of Chicken & Waffles, Chef Lamont of Montperi catering and more. Black & Asian Solidarity Dinner (Sobre Mesa Restaurant & Cocktail Bar) June 11, 2022 Top Chef alums Chef Nelson German & Chef Tu David Phu will take you into a culinary coma with a seven-course dinner that highlights Pan-African and Vietnamese fusion cuisine paired with culturally themed, hand-crafted cocktails provided by Patron. Enjoy an Afro-Asian dinner with conversation to bridge the intersectionality around Black pride and “No Asian Hate.” 3pm is sold out, grab tickets for the 7pm event.
Black Food & Wine Experience®(VIP) Wine & Cocktail Dinner (Karibu Wine Tasting Room) June 15, 2022 (6-8:30 p.m.) Join Black Food & Wine Experience® founder Chef Mimi & winemakers Dr. Chris Wachira of Wachira Wines and Treasury Luxury Wines Estate for a seated dinner. This invite-only event will creates space for discussion around Black Wall Street through the resurrection of Black leadership within the food and beverage business as well as opportunities post-Covid. Attire: Dress to Impress: Black Renaissance, cocktail attire preferred.
Black Food & Wine Dinners (Oakland Restaurants): June 13-June 19, 2022 Sponsored by Visit Oakland Black winemakers will partner with local restaurants to create special pairing menus and celebrate the spirit of Juneteenth. Menus will feature wines priced at $6.19 per glass and food priced at $18.65 per dish, a nod to the federal holiday. Participating restaurants include Chop Bar, Calavera, Oeste, Magnolia Street Wine Lounge & Kitchen, Souley Vegan, Kingston 11, alaMar, and Sobre Mesa.
